Four villages, one lift system

  • Courchevel 1850

The altiport, the Croisette, the three-star restaurants and effectively all of the ultra-prime chalet stock. Ski-in ski-out is genuinely achievable here in a way it is not lower down.

  • Courchevel 1650 (Moriond)

Sunnier, family-led and around a third cheaper for a comparable chalet. Four minutes on the lift from 1850.

  • Courchevel 1550 and 1300 (Le Praz)

Village character and value; Le Praz has the Olympic jump and the tree skiing. Both require the gondola to reach the main bowl.

What a chalet costs

Courchevel 1850 is priced per week and almost always fully staffed: chef, host, daily housekeeping and a driver with vehicle are standard, with lift passes, ski hire and childcare arranged alongside. Compare rates on a staffed, per-week basis — nightly headline figures mislead here.

Booking the season

Christmas, New Year and February half-term are a separate market: seven-night Saturday-to-Saturday minimums, deposits earlier and non-refundable, and rates with no relation to mid-January. The value weeks are the second and third of January and the middle of March, when the Three Valleys is at its emptiest and the snow is still reliable at 1850's altitude.

  • Book peak weeks twelve to eighteen months out; they repeat with returning families.
  • Confirm whether ski-in ski-out means true piste access or a driver shuttle.
  • Agree the chef's menu, wine policy and staff days off before arrival.
  • Ask whether the altiport transfer or Geneva/Chambéry road transfer is included.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Courchevel 1850 more expensive than the other villages?
Altitude, the altiport, restaurant density and a fixed stock of ultra-prime chalets with direct piste access. Courchevel 1650 offers comparable skiing at roughly a third less for the same size of chalet.
How much is a chalet in Courchevel 1850 per week?
Roughly USD 25,000 to 55,000 for a staffed five-bedroom in January or March, rising to USD 60,000 to 120,000 over Christmas and New Year. Ultra-prime chalets run several multiples of that in peak weeks.
When is the best time to ski Courchevel?
The second and third weeks of January and mid-March: reliable snow at 1850's altitude, empty pistes and the sharpest rates of the season.
