The three resorts, and what each one is for
The French Alps are not one market. Courchevel 1850 is one of the villages of the Courchevel valley in Les 3 Vallées; Val d'Isère is a village at 1,850 metres; Chamonix is a valley town of about 1,035 metres with several separate ski areas.
Pick the resort on how the week is meant to run, such as which lifts you want nearest, and then compare live partner rates.
Courchevel 1850, Savoie
In the Three Valleys lift system. The Courchevel tourist office says most of the resort's prestigious hotels, high-end private chalets and starred restaurants are in 1850. Confirm what staffing a rate includes.
Val d'Isère, Savoie
A village at 1,850 metres. Val d'Isère Tourisme says everything in the village is within walking distance, with free shuttles between areas, and gives about three hours by road from Geneva.
Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, Haute-Savoie

Peak weeks, minimums and when to book
Christmas, New Year and the February school holidays are the busiest weeks across the three resorts. Minimums vary by chalet and many peak-week stays are sold Saturday to Saturday; confirm terms and compare live partner rates.
We have no verified lead-time or availability figures for any of the three, so book as early as your dates are fixed.
- Decide the resort on how you want to ski before comparing rates.
- Ask whether the quoted rate is catered, self-catered or staffed with a chef.
- Confirm whether ski-in ski-out means piste access or a chalet driver.
- Price the Geneva transfer at the same time as the chalet; Val d'Isère Tourisme gives about three hours by road for Val d'Isère.
- For festive weeks, join the release list for named chalets rather than searching in autumn.
Staffing and what sits outside the rate
A staffed French chalet rate normally carries a chef with breakfast, afternoon tea and a five-course dinner on six days, a host, daily housekeeping and a driver with vehicle inside resort. Lift passes, ski hire, instructors, childcare, airport transfers and premium wine sit outside it almost everywhere.
