Which stretch of coast

Punta Mita sits on a protected bay 45 minutes from Puerto Vallarta — calm swimming, golf, the easiest with children. Careyes is two hours further south and deliberately remote: cliff casas, no town to speak of, strong surf. Los Cabos is a two-hour flight from Los Angeles with the best service and the weakest swimming — much of the Pacific side has rip currents and is not swimmable.

Staffing and what it costs

Mexican estates on this coast are almost always fully staffed: manager, housekeeping, a chef and often a driver, with food at cost. Festive weeks add a service premium and a minimum stay.

Season

November to May is dry and warm, with Christmas, New Year and Easter the peak. Summer is hot and humid with an afternoon rain pattern and hurricane risk from June to October — the value window, with caveats.

Can you swim from the beach in Los Cabos?
Not everywhere. Much of the Pacific-facing coast has strong rip currents and is not swimmable; the Sea of Cortés side and a handful of protected bays are. Each listing states its beach.
When is the best time to visit Mexico's Pacific coast?
November to May — dry, warm and reliable, with Christmas, New Year and Easter at peak rates. June to October is cheaper, humid and inside hurricane season.
Are Mexican villas staffed?
Yes. Manager, housekeeping and a chef are standard, with a driver common. Provisioning is billed at cost on top of the nightly rate.
