Is it safe to travel to Jackson Hole?
Yes — Jackson is a safe, small Wyoming town. The serious risks are wilderness risks: wildlife, weather, and terrain that is genuinely remote a short drive from the square.

Jackson has almost no violent crime and a valley economy built entirely on visitors. Walking the town square late, driving the highway to Teton Village, or spending a week in a lodge on the Snake River are all unremarkable from a security standpoint.
The wilderness is a different matter, and it starts closer than people expect. Grand Teton and Yellowstone hold grizzly bears, moose and bison, and every year visitors are injured by getting too close for a photograph. Carry bear spray on any trail, know how to use it, and keep a hundred yards from bears and wolves, twenty-five from bison, elk and moose.
Winter driving is the other practical hazard. Teton Pass and the road to Yellowstone's south entrance can close on short notice, and black ice on Highway 22 catches out visiting drivers. Ski touring beyond the resort boundary is avalanche terrain — take a guide, not a map.
