Yes — Los Cabos is one of Mexico's most established resort corridors and the tourist zone operates at a standard that surprises first-time visitors. The sensible precautions are about the sun, the sea and late-night transport, not crime.

Los Cabos sits at the tip of the Baja peninsula, a purpose-built resort corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. The corridor itself — where the hotels and villas are — is heavily invested in visitor safety, with its own tourist police and a hospitality economy that depends entirely on its reputation. Violent incidents involving visitors in the resort zone are rare.
The real risks are mundane. The Pacific-side beaches have genuinely dangerous shore break and undertow — swim only on the designated swimmable beaches, Medano chief among them. The sun at this latitude burns through cloud. And the late-night risk is the same as anywhere with a bar strip: take a arranged car or a sitio taxi rather than hailing on the street after midnight.
Hurricane season runs June to November with the peak in September and October; modern hotels and villas are built for it and the tracking gives days of warning. Book with a flexible rate in those months and the risk reduces to inconvenience.

- Yes, for a resort-based trip. The tourist corridor operates normally and visitors are not a target. Check the current US State Department advisory for Baja California Sur before booking — the state has historically carried a lower advisory level than much of Mexico — and take standard resort-town precautions.

- Yes. The corridor is easy to navigate alone, English is widely spoken, and the resort infrastructure means you are rarely genuinely by yourself. The usual solo rules apply: tell someone your plans, keep drinks in sight, and use arranged transport at night.
