The short answer
October is the region's most cooperative month. Japan's typhoon season fades in the first week and hands over to dry, mild, clear weather; Bali runs out its dry season; Thailand's rains lift towards the end of the month.
If a trip has to cover more than one country, this is the month to build it around — with late October in Japan the only part that needs serious lead time.
