The short answer
If a single month has to work across the region, it is November. Japan is in maple colour with dry cool weather, Thailand's cool dry season opens, and the Maldives return to calm seas as the monsoon retreats.
The only soft spot is Bali, where the rains usually return in the first half of the month. Everything else is at or near its best — which is why Kyoto's inventory for the maple weeks disappears a year in advance.
