The short answer

Bali is in full peak: the driest, busiest, most expensive weeks of its year, with villas committed months ahead. Japan's rainy season lifts around the third week and hands over to hot, humid, festival-filled summer — Gion Matsuri runs all month in Kyoto.

The comfortable Japanese options are upland and offshore: Hakuba's alpine summer and Okinawa's warm sea. Thailand stays green and cheap with rain in bursts.
