Greece has low violent crime and Mykonos, for all its reputation, is a small island policed with a heavy summer presence. Walking Chora at three in the morning is ordinary. Pickpocketing occurs in dense crowds at the port and in the narrow lanes at peak hours, but it is opportunistic rather than organised.
Two-wheelers cause the injuries. Quad bikes and scooters are rented casually to visitors with no experience, the roads are narrow and often gravelled at the edges, and accidents rise sharply at night. Hire a car or a driver instead; if you do ride, wear the helmet and never after drinking.
The other Mykonos hazard is financial. A minority of beach clubs are notorious for opaque pricing. Ask for the price list before ordering, confirm the cost of a table, and check the bill.
