Is it safe to travel to Mustique?
Yes — Mustique is a privately managed island with controlled access and effectively no crime. The real considerations are the sea, medical distance and hurricane season.

The island is owned and run by the Mustique Company, with a small resident community, its own security and a controlled arrival process by air or boat. There is no crime problem in any meaningful sense, and people leave houses and mules unlocked as a matter of habit.
The sea is the genuine hazard. The Atlantic-facing beaches, Macaroni chief among them, have strong undertow and no lifeguards; swim on the calmer Caribbean side and ask the house staff which beach suits the day's conditions. Mules — the island's open buggies — cause more injuries than anything else, especially on wet, steep tracks at night.
Mustique is small and remote. There is a clinic and a resident doctor, but serious cases mean an air transfer to Barbados or further. Travel insurance with medical evacuation cover is the sensible baseline. Hurricane season runs June to November, with the higher-risk window August to October.
