Is it safe to travel to Megève?
Yes — Megève is a safe, low-altitude village with a gentle mountain and an easy transfer. The risks are winter roads and, at this altitude, ice rather than deep snow.

Megève is a working village as much as a resort, with a medieval centre closed to most traffic and horse-drawn sleighs in place of cars. Crime is minimal and the pedestrian core is safe and pleasant at night.
At around 1,100 metres, Megève's slopes are lower and more forgiving than the high Tarentaise resorts — good for families, less prone to altitude problems, but more prone to icy pistes in a warm spell. Ski the north-facing runs when conditions turn hard.
The transfer from Geneva is among the shortest in the Alps at roughly an hour, which cuts the winter-road exposure considerably. The local roads are still icy at night; the village layout means most visitors walk instead.

- Yes. It is a quiet Haute-Savoie village with very little crime and short, straightforward access from Geneva.

- Are the pistes icy in Megève?
- They can be in a mild spell, given the lower altitude. Ski north-facing slopes and the higher Mont d'Arbois sectors when conditions harden, and take care in the first hour of the day.
- Is the drive from Geneva safe in winter?
- It is one of the easiest alpine transfers, about an hour, on mostly main roads. Winter tyres are still required in season.
- Is Megève safe to walk at night?
- Yes. The historic centre is largely pedestrian, lit and busy in the evening. Icy cobbles are the real hazard.
