Our UK advice summary (checked 26 October 2026): Advises against all but essential travel to the far-southern border provinces and within 20 km of the Cambodian border. Severe flooding was affecting Bangkok at the time of checking. Since 15 September 2026, visa-exempt entry allows stays of up to 30 days for tourism only. Terrorists are likely to try to carry out attacks in Thailand.
UK advice for Thailand (reviewed 28 September 2026) says violent crime, including gun crime, rarely involves tourists, and recommends carrying valuables and cash securely, being wary of bag-snatchers (especially on motorbikes), taking care in open transport such as tuk-tuks, and watching for ATM skimming. It also reports drink spiking and drug-assisted sexual assault in tourist areas around Thailand and methanol poisoning from alcoholic drinks. The US State Department rates Thailand Level 1: Exercise Normal Precautions, with increased caution near the Cambodian border and in Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat.
