The short answer
September is the quiet reward. Bali stays dry into the month but the August crowds have gone and villa rates fall by a third; Japan's second half cools into clear, comfortable weather with almost no visitors.
The risks are real and worth naming: September is the peak of typhoon activity for Japan and the Philippines, and Thailand's wettest month. Flexible travel days matter more than in any other month.
