The short answer

June is Bali's month. The dry season is settled, humidity is lower than in the shoulder months, and the island has not yet filled with July and August traffic. Rates sit a clear step below peak.

Japan is in tsuyu — the rainy season — which empties the temples and halves the rates on Honshu, while Hokkaido stays dry and cool. Thailand's green season deepens, with cheap islands and heavy afternoon rain.

Where to be, and what to book

  • Bali

The dry season at its most comfortable, ahead of the peak-month crowds.

  • Hokkaido

Outside Japan's rainy season entirely: dry, 20°C, green, with lavender opening late in the month.

  • Kyoto

Hydrangeas, wet moss, empty temples and the year's best house availability.

  • Book Bali three to four months ahead; June sells before the wetter shoulder months.
  • Hokkaido is the dry-weather answer inside Japan this month.
  • Honshu rates and availability are at their annual best.
  • Thai islands are cheap but wet in the afternoons.
