The problems cluster around the nightlife. Drink spiking, aggressive street sellers, and pickpocketing outside clubs at closing time all happen in San Antonio and Playa d'en Bossa. Never accept a drink you did not see poured, do not buy anything from a street dealer, and arrange transport home before you go out rather than negotiating at four in the morning.
Away from the clubs, the practical risks are sun and roads. Summer heat is serious for anyone walking the coves at midday, and the island's narrow lanes see regular scooter accidents. Ibiza has good hospitals in Ibiza Town; a European health card or travel insurance covers the rest.

- It is the risk most worth guarding against. Watch drinks being poured, never leave one unattended, do not accept drinks from strangers, and stay with your group. Tell venue security immediately if someone feels suddenly unwell.
- Is it safe to drive in Ibiza?
- Yes, on the main roads. Rural lanes are narrow and unlit, and summer traffic includes many inexperienced scooter riders. Drink-driving enforcement is strict — use a taxi or a driver at night.
- Is the sea safe for swimming in Ibiza?
- Generally yes — the water is calm and clear at most coves. Watch for boat traffic in busy bays, jellyfish after onshore winds, and rocky entries that are slippery. Flagged beaches post daily conditions.
