Is it safe to travel to Canouan?
Yes — Canouan is a small, quiet Grenadine island with resort security and minimal crime. The considerations are the sea, buggy driving and hurricane season.

Canouan has a few thousand residents and a developed resort end with its own security, marina and airport. Visitors move between the beaches, the club and the villas without concern; incidents involving guests are rare, and the practical precautions are the ones you would take in any small island community — lock the villa, leave nothing on the beach.
Atlantic-facing beaches on the windward side have real surf and undertow and no lifeguards. The leeward beaches, including Godahl and Carenage Bay, are calm and swimmable in most conditions. Ask staff before swimming somewhere new.
Open buggies are the island transport and the most common source of injury: steep hills, loose gravel and unlit roads at night. Hurricane season runs June to November, peaking August to October; the island's newer buildings are engineered for it and storms are forecast days ahead.
