The Grenadines calendar
Canouan follows the standard eastern Caribbean pattern: a dry, trade-wind-cooled season from mid-December to April, and a warmer, wetter season from June to November that overlaps the hurricane window. What distinguishes the island is how little the crowd level changes — with a limited villa count and a jet-capable runway, it stays quiet even in February.
The value is at the edges. Late April and May keep dry-season conditions at wet-season pricing, and the first ten days of December are the cheapest good weather of the year before the festive rate card takes over.

| April | Warming, still dry | Easter spikes one week | USD 1,800 – 4,500 |
| May–June | First rains, warm sea | Best value of the year | USD 900 – 2,600 |
| July–August | Hot, humid, family demand | Carnival on St Vincent in July | USD 1,200 – 3,200 |

Getting there matters more than the month
Canouan takes private jets directly and connects by short hop from Barbados and St Lucia. Scheduled links thin out in September and October when island traffic drops, so a shoulder-season saving on the villa can be partly eaten by charter positioning. Confirm the air leg before committing to dates outside the dry season.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the best time to visit Canouan?
- February and March for the driest, breeziest weather, or late April and May for near-identical conditions at roughly half the nightly rate.
- Does Canouan get hurricanes?
- It sits within the Atlantic hurricane belt, with risk running June to November and concentrated between August and October. Direct strikes are infrequent, but travel insurance covering named storms is sensible for those months.
- How do you get to Canouan?
- Canouan's runway accepts private jets directly, and short scheduled hops connect from Barbados, St Lucia and St Vincent. Most guests arrive long-haul into Barbados and transfer the same day.
- Is Canouan quieter than Mustique or St Barts?
- Considerably. The island has a small villa count, no day-trip traffic and no evening scene to speak of, which is precisely the reason people choose it over the better-known Grenadine and Leeward islands.
