What a Folegandros villa costs
Folegandros lies between Milos and Sikinos and covers about 32 sq km, nineteenth in size among the Cyclades, according to the Ephorate of Antiquities. Its Chora grew around a post-Byzantine Kastro; the ancient town stood at Palaiokastro on the slope above, where the church of the Virgin Mary now stands. There is no airport, so arrival is by ferry.
On the north-east coast, the Chrysospilia sea cave runs about 300 m into the cliff, its walls carved with some 400 names, mostly from the 4th century BC, linked to a coming-of-age rite. The municipality says the cave is not open to general visits because excavation is unfinished; boat trips view it from the water.

Chora and the Kastro
The cliff-top village: three linked squares, tavernas under bougainvillea, no cars. Walking distance to everything that happens on the island.
Ano Meria
The farming settlement along the ridge to the north: terraced fields, long views and the walk down to Agios Georgios beach.
Karavostasis and Livadi
The port side, sheltered and practical, with the easiest swimming and the shortest ferry walk.
Angali and the west coast
Beach coves reached by road or water taxi, and the quietest villas on the island.

- Ask how many steps lie between the parking and the front door — Chora villas have plenty.
- A small car or a scooter is enough; the island has one main road.
- Water taxis from Karavostasis reach the best beaches faster than driving.

Getting there and getting around
There is no airport. Most guests fly to Santorini, Milos or Naxos and take a ferry, with crossing times depending heavily on the boat and the route — or sail from Piraeus in a longer crossing. Check the current season's timetable. Because arrivals hinge on the ferry timetable, it is worth booking the crossing first and the villa around it.
Staffing is modest: housekeeping, and a cook for particular evenings where the villa offers it. Most weeks here are cooked at home or eaten in Chora.
