What a Folegandros villa costs
Folegandros is a ridge of rock twelve kilometres long with one of the most striking villages in Greece on the cliff edge of it. There is no airport, no resort development and no road worth speeding on — which is precisely why people who know the Cyclades come here instead of Santorini.

Where to stay on the island
Chora and the Kastro
The cliff-top village: three linked squares, tavernas under bougainvillea, no cars. Walking distance to everything that happens on the island.
Ano Meria
The farming settlement along the ridge, ten minutes north: terraced fields, long views and the walk down to Agios Georgios beach.
Karavostasis and Livadi
The port side, sheltered and practical, with the easiest swimming and the shortest ferry walk.
Angali and the west coast
Beach coves reached by road or water taxi, and the quietest houses on the island.
- Book the ferry before the villa; August sailings from Santorini and Milos sell out.
- Ask how many steps lie between the parking and the front door — Chora houses have plenty.
- A small car or a scooter is enough; the island has one main road.
- Water taxis from Karavostasis reach the best beaches faster than driving.
- Sunset at Chora's Kastro and Panagia church is the island's fixed appointment.
Getting there and getting around
There is no airport. Most guests fly to Santorini, Milos or Naxos and take a ferry — forty-five minutes to two hours depending on the boat — or sail from Piraeus in a longer crossing. Because arrivals hinge on the ferry timetable, it is worth booking the crossing first and the villa around it.
Staffing is modest: housekeeping, and a cook for particular evenings where the house offers it. Most weeks here are cooked at home or eaten in Chora.
